Bone Broth

Kettle and Fire Beef Bone Broth

Bones might not be the first ingredient you think of when wanting to make a pot of soup. Though you might have heard about bone broth lately, since it’s been making the headlines with lots of health experts recommending it to folks following a ketogenic diet and lifestyle.

But do you actually KNOW why it’s getting such rave reviews?

Because it’s kind of a Go-To cure-all for a ton of different health conditions!

Ok, ok…I know that sounds like a snake-oil salesman pitch, lol!

But once again…don’t take my word for it! You can

As someone who loves to cook…I decided I’d try making it myself! I’ve made lots and LOTS of homemade soups, from scratch, over the years…so I figured it would be a cinch to whip up a batch of healthy, wholesome BONE BROTH.

Right?

Yaaa…not so much!

MAKING BROTH FROM BONES

Turns out there are some tricks to getting the flavor just right.

You need to make sure you purchase bones from organic, grass-fed, humanely-raised animals…because you don’t want all the hormones and antibiotics and grain-residue from factory-farmed livestock. So, the bones you buy, in the first place, definitely do matter.

Then you need to ROAST the bones before you simmer them into broth. This browns the fat and marrow so that the flavor is improved. And you need to add vegetables, pink Himalayan sea salt (for minerals and electrolytes), and seasonings, etc…

And then you need to let the stock simmer…you know…for like…36-48 hours. Omg! This increases both the flavor profile as well as the nutrient density. I have an Instant Pot…which is great for this kind of thing. But even that takes quite awhile.

Sooo…I discovered a MUCH EASIER, FASTER OPTION!
